Have you ever stared at your foot? Like really studied it. Your heel, slightly hardened around the outside of it. Your toes how they either seem long or short, thick or skinny. The skin on the top of your foot, is it pale with veins showing through or darker with just some bumps where the veins are? Maybe poke your foot with a finger and watch the indentation disappear when you move away from it.
Why in the world am I asking you about doing this? Because as you are looking at it and seeing it for what it is, feeling the sensation as you poke at it, imagine it’s not yours. Imagine it is attached to someone else. Realize that everyone has something similar and it feels relatively the same. This is why I suggest you do this, because it’s the easiest way to imagine what it is like to be your neighbor, co-worker, client etc.
The Psychologist Carl Jung said that when we criticize others its a mirror to what we criticize ourselves for internally (paraphrased). He calls this mirror thinking. I want you to think about your foot on their leg every time you feel the force to criticize someone for ANYTHING and then ask yourself if you need to forgive yourself first?
In the world of metaphysics our connections to each other are there no matter what. Universally we are all bound as one. Your new year begins with this lesson, have you ever…..done that, felt that, thought that, said that etc etc. Give yourself grace and your agitation will diminish against those that “trigger” that reaction in you. we need to constantly have reminders as the world changes and we all “evolve” into what we are today and then again tomorrow.
If you’re looking for guidance in doing this, reach out and I would love to assist!
